Wednesday Softball

So, the other team didn't have enough players, so I got to play an inning on their side. I played second. Again. I might start expecting to play there soon. I just look like I'm paying so much attention, don't I? It's really nerve wracking to play somewhere that I don't normally hang out. Catching is bad enough. Second base actually sees some action. Since I was playing for the other team though, it didn't really matter as much if I messed up.

I did get to play for my team as well. I caught. It did not go well. I also got up to bat twice. Ally got this great picture of me. What is with that face? I look like I'm in agony. This was a pop fly that went about five feet behind second base. Great hit. They totally caught it. Oh well. It was better than the dribbler that I hit the next inning.
yech. We ended up losing. It was our own fault. I think we were having too much fun. I love my team. My friend Ally(2) got to play for the first time. Ever. She totally whiffed, but she got in the game and swung. I think that's all that really matters.

Softball

This week was our third softball game. We lost. But only by 11 runs. Since we were playing the team that recruits (for Rec softball? Seriously?), that was considered a great accomplishment. In our league, if a team is down by more than 10 runs at the bottom of the fifth, the game ends. It's supposed to end abject humiliation. Or cut games short that might otherwise run over. We ended about 30 minutes before the next game was to start. They didn't want to keep playing, because they had already won (R-e-c softball? it's supposed to be fun?) Anyway, whenever we have an early game, our team also has a BBQ. There's a house just up the hill from the softball field where my co-worker used to live, but she's moved. However, another co-worker moved in for the summer so we get to keep having the BBQs there, at least for this year. It's always good food and good fun. Just witness the above picture. Who needs a bottle opener when you have a perfectly good picnic table? I love Montana.

Softball

I just have to post this, in case I don't remember at the end of the year. Best-softball-season-EVER! At least for me. I've made it home four times in the three games that I've played. I've hit some kick-ass balls over second base, just dropping them between the in- and out fields. If I had been braver, I could have had a double. And I played second base tonight (Monday I played outfield and hitter (in this league, you can bat 12 as long as one of the two extra is a girl) and then tonight I was catcher and second) and Got Someone Out. True, I bobbled the ball, but they were out! I rule! I rule! Admittedly, I also missed some balls and had some stinky hits but I was able to shake the mistakes off and keep playing.
Last night was rugby and I'm also improving at that. Or... I'm caring less how badly I do so it makes the game more enjoyable. Either way. Hopefully this attitude carries over into game night tomorrow....
