Really!?!
We really need to be setting off fireworks this far out? Thank god the dog doesn't seem to mind. But I do. I wake up at 5. Fireworks at eleven? Not my favorite thing.

Lighthouse ride
Sometimes you just want some good dinner. And sometimes you're willing to go up to seven miles to get it. On a bike. Actually, we do this fairly often. The Lighthouse has the best food in town and the ride is fairly easy. Downhill all the way. Of course, that means uphill on the way back... But a glass or two of wine at dinner can sometimes help. If you don't need to pee desperately before you get back.

Knox Lake hike
I'm slated to do a week-long hike in August and I'm a little concerned about it. Yes, I do a ridiculous amount of aerobics but these are different muscle groups entirely. It's gonna be hell.
I went on a hike with Heidi and Matt today that... well. We did eight miles in five and a half hours. Not great. But a beautiful hike. A wonderful day and the two dogs with us were completely zonked at the end.
On the way down, we encountered our friend Lucy. She was beyond impressed that we had gotten up so early (6:30 to beat the heat) and got done with ten miles so fast. It wasn't eight miles. The in-and-out hike is more like 10/11 miles. Love it.

After the rugby game tonight
I took some time out to do a couple of tourist poses.
Usually the elk don't come that close to us, but this time, they were right at the other end of the football field. It's kind of funny to be 50 yards away from the dozens of tourists who stopped to take pictures and realize that they don't see you at all. But then again, I live in a super-cool place and it's sometimes easy to forget how big peoples' vacation blinders can be. Though baby elk are pretty cool.

Walking the Dog
Sometimes a dog gets a little obsessed. On this particular day, my pupster decided that she absolutely wanted to eat a marmot. Why? I don't know. Anything smaller than her is something that Sam wants to explore. I'm not absolutely sure she ever wants to eat them but she does tend to obsess over things. Ever since this day, we have to stop by the school on every single walk. Whatever. She's happy and it's usually only a five to ten minute detour.
