Podcasts--EMS

Ever since I took my Emergency Medical Responder class, I've been keeping up with these. Some of the entries I read since they pertain to me, some I don't. Unfortunately, I haven't been reading them long enough to really distinguish which one is which. Most of them are done by people who are in the field and giving out good real-world advice. I think all are part of privately funded EMS companies.

Medic Madness- good, short entries
Social Medic-NY EMS provider with longer entries that I don't tend to read all the way through
Rogue Medic-tends to write longer articles and will often follow one topic over several posts, often responding to comments
Burned-Out Medic- definitely one of my favorites. Gives short, pithy, good advice for patients, family and responders. Often wry and makes me laugh at least one every five posts.
Coma Toast-more story oriented, often includes personal stories, not just work
Street Watch-Paramedic with longer posts that I actually tend to read

Volunteering with the Ed Folks

Every once in awhile, I like to volunteer with other folks in the park. Knowing that I have Mondays off, my friend Trudy called and asked me if I'd like to go out with her and Michael and break some trail so that their next group of fourth graders wouldn't sink up to their waists. And it would have been up to their waists because I was definitely up to my mid-thigh most of the way. It was fun. Mostly. it was like doing the Stairmaster over and over and over and over... Even with the snowshoes on, I'd lift my leg up, up, up get it above the level of the snow, step... and fall right through. For four hours. Four. Hours. This was happening to both Trudy and I. Michael couldn't understand it as he just tramped right along, never even sinking in up to his ankles. Blergh. Good exercise though.
Stay there. Just... stay there.

Catching up... again/January Parental Visit

So, my parents were out again in late January and stayed with me... for a week. We all survived. The pictures I have are mainly from a trip to the boiling river with the fam as well as Lane.

Blogs

So recently my friend Carrie asked which blogs I read. Well, there are a lot of them but I thought I'd share... a little bit at a time.
First up, the blogs that don't fit into any of my folder categories
Woman gives advice on how to apply for jobs

Coworker's blog about her family and running a B&B. Very cute and includes great recipes

Like the address says, spoilers for the TV show "Bones"

Kendra and Doug update a blog for their kiddo

Shannon and Jeff update their overseas adventures

Blog for a guy whose podcast I listen to

Pictures of various cake disasters wrought by so-called professionals

Never been to Walmart at 2am? These are the people I saw but some of these appear to come out during the day

Anonymous people send in post cards with secrets they can't tell in person but are willing to share with the world

Again, the address says it all

Posts from Facebook that should put these people to shame

Books

I really have felt like I've not been reading as much lately, what with trying to pick up various TurboKick routines and studying for my EMR class. However, doing an actual count shows that I am doing about the same. At least, in terms of numbers. It would be interesting to see how many of those are romances, mysteries, young adult (fast reads) vs. biographies, historical fiction, true crime (slightly less fast reads). I'm not gonna do it though because it's my weekend and I'm going to go sit on my butt.

Where the heck have I been?

It's been a busy new year. My parents were here for a week. That was quite the experience. But I've been busiest with the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) class that started in January. It's two and a half hours a night, twice a week. Plus all of the studying involved. Not sure if I'm going to make it through but it's nice to do something different.
